It’s no secret, we aren’t the only paint and sip studio in town. In fact, we might not even be the one in your home town, yet many of our regulars bypass the art studio closest to their dwellings and commute to Whimsy, some even driving an hour or more through rush hour just to spend the evening with us!
Why? Well, it’s simple; we take the traditional paint and sip experience past just a really fun night out. We want to instill a love of creating art and can-do attitude in each of our guests!
Let’s start with our art. We have a wide array of art to choose from; a rustic rainbow trout for the guys, classic art reproductions for the traditional art collector, whimsically colorful animals for the wild at heart. Whimsy art gives our competitors a run for their money because they are multi-layered, many-faceted beauties that give first time painters the respect and dignity of feeling like true artists right off the bat! The best part is that they only look hard, but trust me-each one is a step by step process, and you can totally do it! Our instructors are the most patient and easy to follow in town. We won’t tell your friends who admire your work that it was easy. We want you to beam with pride!
Next, let’s talk about our supplies. From Whimsy’s very baby beginnings, we insisted upon using top-grade, art-quality products. We treat you to the same high-end, quality acrylic paints used by the professionals, instead of tempura paint that kids finger paint with. We also use professional quality brushes and canvases. These are all ways we aim to give our burgeoning artists the very best opportunities to explore painting!
Finally, our bar is top notch. We make a point to check in with our guests regularly to see what is a hit, what isn’t, and what’s new and great out there. We have some of the most unique and sought after selections in town, both non and alcoholic!
If you’re reading this, on behalf of myself and the entire Whimsy Team, I want to thank you for choosing to paint with Whimsy, it’s thanks to you that we can continue bringing our special flavor to the Denver Metro area!
Happy Spring, artists!

Okay, now we are beginning to feel it. Despite the unexpected wet snow this week and an occasional cold breeze, I really feel like this time it’s safe to say we’ve made it over the hump and spring is upon us. Grass is greening up, little buds bloom on the trees, chocolate bunnies are on the shelves at every major supermarket. Not sure if that last part was really related, maybe more just my subconscious desire for Cadbury Eggs popping into the blog for a moment.
Just because we are past the holidays doesn’t mean special occasions stop happening during spring. This is wedding season, baby season, Thank Goodness It’s Finally Warm Day (a new national holiday), birthdays, just TONS of festivities that send us out to the store trying to find something really thoughtful for our celebrating loved ones.
I personally find that task really hard, which is why you can usually find me making my gifts. They are more personal and it’s easier to custom fit it to their desires! These are also, hands-down, my favorite gifts to receive!
You’ve heard me say it before and I will say it again, Whimsy is the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone; you can get some time in with people you love during a painting event or open studio, while creating a gift for someone special who has a birthday coming up! In this busy world, killing two birds with one stone is pretty priceless!
In an even bigger rush? Grab a gift card so they can create their own wall art! It makes an awfully cute addition to an Easter basket filled with Peeps and all of their other festive friends.
See you next week, you generous little artists, you!

You know the feeling. You get itchy, can’t sit still, pop online to keep yourself distracted for a little while longer. You’re overdue for a whimsy fix, and nothing will satiate the need until you’re sitting on a cozy stool and have that brush in hand, and enjoying a peach Izzy.
You’re the type that checks our calendar weekly for new art, or maybe to see if the painting you’ve been waiting to do (AGAIN!) has made its way back to the calendar yet. (Some of you reading this are saying, “What is she jabbering on about?! No one is that crazy about painting!” To those folks, I’m saying YES! We Whimsians are that crazy, and this is me peer-pressuring you to drink the crazy water with us, you’ll love it!)
My dear, fellow Whimsy fanatics who want a new way to get your kicks, I’m here to tell you that Whimsy has a Meetup group specifically for the artist who is looking to try something a little different from our traditional classes but keep the fun, all while meeting new friends that love Whimsy as much as you do!
In past Whimsy Paint and Sip Art Club sessions, we have painted pumpkins, enjoyed an outing to the zoo to sketch the animals, learned to paint from our cherished photos, and covered some more in-depth landscape painting skills.
Lindsey, our amazingly talented lead art instructor loves the classes because she gets to cover techniques that aren’t always part of a typical Whimsy class and has more one-on-one time to help the artists develop their own style of art. She says, “I enjoy sharing different processes to build up a painting. Teaching people how build upon their own compositions and ideas. Different techniques. Its a great way to get people together and enjoy different activities and learn new things.”
We have some amazing new ideas for Whimsy’s Art Club in 2015! We’re bringing in new items to paint on, guest artists, new techniques, maybe a craft or two, and definitely a few fun field trips! As always, all experience levels are invited to attend!
Once a month, we will provide you with details about our Whimsy Art Club activity in our email newsletter and on Facebook. Most classes cost $25 unless we go to a location outside the studio. To sign up or find out more details about the current month’s event, visit:
We are so excited to treat all of our fans to some really special experiences that will awaken your inner artist or give him a lil’ jolt! Never fear! If you’re jonesing for some paint on your hands, we’ve got the perfect anecdote! Can’t wait to see you at the Whimsy Paint and Sip Art Club Meetup!!!
